While serving in the United States Army, I was seriously injured as I prepared to deploy with 10th Mountain Light Infantry Division. This injury left me paralyzed and turned my world upside down. During the subsequent surgery I died on the operating table, twice. While the surgery saved my life, I was still unable to walk.

Unsure of my future, I fell into a deep depression. During this time, I had no choice but to ask myself some difficult questions and do a tremendous amount of soul searching. Finally after many months of darkness, I had an epiphany.

This caused a huge personal paradigm shift allowing me to see my injury as a wakeup call. This gift of adversity served as the catalyst I needed to change my mindset and therefore, my life. The lessons learned from my endeavor revealed my purpose and drives me to spread my message today.
