Building Confident, Regulated, and Connected Education Teams
The most powerful tool in any room is a confident, regulated adult. Treva Graves helps education professionals strengthen the identity, regulation, communication, and confidence they bring to their work. Through keynotes, interactive workshops, and university partnerships, she helps school teams and future clinicians lead with greater clarity and build more sustainable ways of working together.
ABOUT TREVA
Treva Graves, M.A., CCC-SLP, brings 30 years of school-based practice to her work with educators, clinicians, school leaders, and university programs. As The Unconventional SLP, she addresses the part of professional development that often gets overlooked: how the adults doing the work show up.
Her Unconventional Team Framework brings together four pillars: Identity, Regulation, Communication, and Confidence. Treva helps professionals understand their role more clearly, respond to stressful moments with greater steadiness, communicate across complex teams, and lead with confidence. Her work connects personal development to stronger collaboration and more sustainable student support.
FEATURED TOPICS
We’ve Been Doing It Backwards: It Starts With Us
Before the strategy, there is the person carrying it out. In this keynote, Treva reframes burnout, collaboration, and leadership by focusing on the adults supporting students every day. Drawing on her school-based experience and the Unconventional Team Framework, she gives audiences language for what they have been carrying and a steadier way to lead.
Attendees will explore how to regulate first, communicate with confidence, and focus their leadership on what matters. This keynote is designed for conferences, school districts, leadership events, professional development programs, and higher education audiences.
The Unconventional Workshop: What If We’ve Been Doing the Work Backwards?
Strong teams are built on more than strategy. They need aligned professional identities, regulated responses, and intentional communication. This interactive, application-focused workshop helps school-based SLPs, OTs, PTs, educators, and school leaders strengthen how they show up together so collaboration improves.
Participants explore the four pillars of Identity, Regulation, Communication, and Confidence. They practice regulation strategies for high-stress moments, strengthen communication, and develop a shared approach to resetting team dynamics. The workshop includes guided exercises, discipline-specific case scenarios, team dialogue, and implementation planning.
Available formats include a two-hour workshop and a four-hour half-day workshop. Treva can also present this work for association and education conferences, university graduate training, and school district professional development.
University Partnerships: Preparing Graduate Students for Practice
Graduate students need more than clinical knowledge to navigate the full reality of school-based practice. Treva partners with university programs to help future clinicians develop a clear professional identity, regulate effectively, communicate with courage and clarity, and enter their careers with greater confidence.
Her sessions can support students preparing for practica, externships, internships, interviews, and first-year roles. Partnership options include keynotes, guest lectures, cohort leadership intensives, transition-to-practice workshops, faculty professional development, retreats, leadership days, and adjunct teaching experiences. Site and bulk licensing options are also available.
